Our suede slippers and mittens give a secure and comfortable feeling and fit whilst sheepskin lining adds luxury for your feet or hands! Sometimes, people can feel daunted about how best to care for your new sheepskin or suede product… please don’t worry!
If you need to treat a suede area of your slippers/moccasins/mittens, we recommend giving them a brush with a dry, textured cloth or use a soft toothbrush/suede brush. If this isn’t sufficient in removing marks from your suede products, a specialist suede cleaning solution can be bought to clean specific areas.
All wool (and including wool on sheepskin inner linings) has amazing properties often due to lanolin, which is a waxy substance secreted by the glands of a sheep. By over-washing wool, it can strip the lanolin! Lanolin helps to build on the following benefits of wool:
- Wool is sustainable
- Wool is biodegradable
- Wool is a natural super fibre
- Wool naturally shirks dirt and stains
- Wool does not retain odours
- Wool naturally wicks away moisture
- Wool keeps you cool in summer, and cosy in winter
The inner lining can be spot washed with a damp, soap cloth (mild hair shampoo is good for this!). Spilled something malodourous on the lining? Spot wash as above and then when dry, try shaking some bicarbonate of soda onto the area and leave it overnight. Remove the bicarb the next day for best results!
With just a small bit of care, your sheepskin lined slippers will retain these wonderful properties!
